How much time can you spare per day to build and maintain your web?

And if you have several tasks going on at the same time, which is the more important?
With just that “much time” available, and when you rebuilding a web and maintaining others at the same time, which is the more urgent?

Halting Make Your Own Web Site

I usually work on several pages at the same time on my laptop, and upload them to the server together when they are ready.
There are about 11 pages written and just as I was into the editing and rewriting, something else popped up.

It is part of my volunteer work.
I owe my web building skill to this organization.
Few years ago, this club of mine gave me the opportunity to build them a web and though I no longer maintain it, I would always give them my immediate attention when help is needed.

Membership Building

Recently 3 of my club members are each chartering a new club.
They made no request of me to help but I decided to put my web building aside and:

• Work on an abandoned public speaking blog – change the WordPress theme.
• Started posting.
• Created 2 contact us forms.
• Tested and confirmed working.
• Total 5 pages

At the same time…

• Work on another blog.
• Posted 3 articles and created a contact us form.
• 3 pages within 2 days.

Total 8 pages and 3 contact forms.

Next, I’ll watch how they perform at the search engines and I’ll tweak acccordingly.

As these 2 sites target at the local audience, I hardly need to apply SEO.
However I need to monitor how they’re doing at the search engines, especially on Google.

WordPress Standard and WordPress MU

I discovered this difference:
Posting on WordPress regular appeared on Google within 2 minutes.
Posting on WordPress MU will appear on Google only on the third day. 3 postings and none appeared within 2 days.

I have up to end of May to hit my target, so 2 days is not a big problem. But if I want to see it listed on Google immediately, WordPress standard is the way to go.

Unfortunately, this blog is also built with WPMU.

Now it time to come back and make my own website.
There’s somewhat a lost in momentum… let me complete the editing and rewriting before I can create another new page.
